The California Department of Corrections is looking into just how the wild-eyed 1960s cult leader whose followers committed heinous murders that terrorized Los Angeles and shocked the nation, died.
While many had speculated that serving nine life terms and being denied parole 12 times was simply too much to bear and the ultimate cause of his demise, the truth, is much more bizarre.
Charles Manson, who was 5-feet-2, always thought of himself as a much bigger person. He craved adoration and always sought out validation from anybody who would listen.
While it was initially reported that he died of natural causes in a hospital in Kern County, California, north of Los Angeles, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation announced they had discovered a suicide note. Apparently, this is not the first attempt, as he was hospitalized in January 2017 for intestinal bleeding.
The note left behind carries on in the crazed tradition of his dysfunctional life. His whole plan was to incite an apocalyptic race war that Mr. Manson called Helter Skelter.
An excerpt from his final note reads: "You know, a long time ago being crazy meant something. Nowadays everybody's crazy. We're not in Wonderland anymore Alice."
"Though I tried to awaken the great Helter Skelter, I see now we have a President who is far better equipped to accomplish this task, which is why I tried to end it all back in January when Trump took office."
"As Trump continues on his path of destruction, I wanted to beat him in getting to hell so that I could at least enjoy a short time as the "Top Dog" before Donald Trump dies and takes over."
